Smoke These Joints: 1/1/12 – 1/7/12

Smoke ‘em if ya got ‘em…

A quick look at some of the heat brought on I GO HARD NOW as well as some can’t-miss articles from the world wide internets.

Our Joints:

Good: LBJ Takes Talents to Wedding Chapel Even I know you don’t buy a pear shaped diamond with baguettes – and it took me four tries just to even SPELL baguettes. Mackenzie takes a look at the King’s proposal while dropping references to Caddy Shack, Elizabeth Taylor and mullets in the span of one post.

Better: The Small Sample Size All-Stars I love stats. I wish I could give stats my letterman jacket and ask them to go steady. We’d make out under the bleachers and Stats would keep slapping my hand away as I went for some above-the-clothes-petting. This piece points out a few early anomalies that will be fun to track as the season puts out.

Best: DeMarcus Cousins Isn’t To Blame The NBA Lockout caused such a fracturing of the NBA fanbase to OWNERS vs PLAYERS that nearly any story that has broken in this short season has followed this narrative. Alex explains why Cousins isn’t to blame in the Paul Westphal fallout, not matter how hard the media tries.

Their Joints:

Good: Sebastian Pruiti looks at Amar’e Stoudemire’s Early-Season Struggles. While an article about the Knicks, written by Grantland, should represent everything evil in the world; this Pruiti article is a great read. This storyline will undoubtedly be forced down our throats as D’Antoni sits on the hot seat and Dwight Howard rumors emerge.

Bad: I think Rob has already outlined a very half-hearted effort by JA Adande so I’m just going to link back to his An Open Letter to JA Adande piece. He does all the necessary research and calls bullshit on the impact Derek Fisher has on the Lakers.

Tube: It’s easy to go to any site and find highlights, but not everyday you get to see Dirk Nowitzki doing a dramatic reading of ‘Oops…I Did It Again’. I don’t actually find the video overly funny, but appreciate how hard it will be to explain this to my kids in 20 years.

The Shake: I couldn’t go without mentioning the amazing comic series Kobe and the MB. These are so funny Dane Cook has already tried to steal them for his act.

And, of course, check out the podcast so you can put a voice with this sexy text.
