Leaders of N.B.A. Players Union Creates Chaos (from The New York Times)
An Open Letter to Billy Hunter and Derek Fisher (from Etan Thomas)
First of all, Woj brings that hot fire again. I know he’s just an NBA writer, but this dude turns up the heat on NBA players/management like I wish our regular journalists did on the government. I don’t know if that speaks worse for journalists in general or for the general public who prefer to read in-depth stories about pro sports. Whatever. Woj is killing it.
Second of all, this whole mess goes out to you idiots who sided with the players during the lockout. I stand by my assessment: there were no good guys or bad guys during the lockout. They were all greedy assholes. It’s really easy to pick on a bunch of rich white guys, but the players came rolling in with this clown as their leader. Which leads me to point number three…
All of the players, but particularly Derek Fisher, Mo Evans and the rest of the Players Association executive committee are at fault. You don’t let a guy who might be ripping you off lead you with no questions asked. I’m tired of giving the players a free pass. You want to be in a union? You want to care when it comes to collective bargaining sessions? Then you better care when there are legit concerns about your leadership. I find it hard to believe Billy Hunter is the most qualified man in America to lead the NBPA.
Lastly, Etan Thomas really isn’t that good of a writer. Seriously, did you read his open letter? Not that hot of writing. In addition to questionable writing skills, Etan, please don’t bother the general public with your bullshit open letter. How about the NBPA just has it’s shit together and stops bothering the fans with this. We resent all of you: players, management and owners because of your garbage. The only reason we put up with it is because you offer the most acceptable form of entertainment available. You’re game is really fun and awesome; this shit is not.
