Sargasm

I get it, basketball fans of the world. It’s annoying when people blame LeBron for everything, when they say the Spurs are boring, or when the refs are accused of ‘fixing’ a game.
Hell, I’ll ride up on a horse and deliver the Braveheart speech in an effort to lead us into war against lazy clichés. Seriously. You give me a saddle and it’s done.
But I think we may be overcorrecting.
I follow a lot of NBA writer/blogger/girlfriends on the Twitters. And for every uneducated Tweet saying one of the above, there are forty thousand sarcastic responses. Every missed shot by Wade doesn’t need a ‘HOW WILLZ THEY BLAME ALL THE LEBRONZ!’ response. Every foul call doesn’t need a ‘OH LOOKIE – THE NBA IS HOLDING BACK THOSE 17 TIME WORLD CHAMPIONS AGAIN’.
We get it. People say stupid things, and to mock that, you are also saying stupid things.
That joke needs to be made once, maybe twice. It’s like standing at the urinal – you shake it more than twice and you’re just playing with yourself. Except in this analogy, it’s more like a giant, Twitter-wide circle jerk. But somehow still in a urinal. I feel like this analogy has fallen apart.
In any event, you can’t cure stupid with stupid. That’s just science.
And the sarcastic Tweets aren’t helping anything.
Even if they are sooooooooooooooooo funny.
